Club History

The Innisfail Golf Club Incorporation was formed in 1925 by our founding members. We are looking into our history to include the names of our founding members.

The Innisfail Golf Club was recognised as a business entity on the 28th of August 1928. This is the date all our records show as the date we began our journey as a golf club in Far North Queensland.

Our first Club Champions were recorded in 1946. Members Champion J Peterson & Associate Champion Mrs W Loxton. Mrs Loxton won another 2 Associate Championships in 1947 & 1949.

In 1948, another chapter of our golf club began with the first "Hole In One" recorded by an Associate Member, Mrs F Cook on the 4th hole. Mrs Cook also had the 2nd "Hole In One" on the same hole in 1950. Ladies of the Innisfail Golf Club had the first 6 "Hole In Ones" dating up to 1960.

Our first Men's & Ladies Presidents were nominated in 1949.

Mr K Coates Member's President

Mrs M Billam Associates President

One of many Presentation Nights were held at our club. In 1972, a great time was had by all at the Fancy Dress ball.

Cyclone Larry devastated our region in 2006. The Category 5 Storm crossed the coast just south of Innisfail in the early hours of Monday morning March 20th. The golf course was hit hard by TC Larry. Almost 200 Kauri Pines were destroyed, which has changed the layout of the course since.
